NOTE From Mr. Uskert

Dear Families,

What an incredible start to the year! Thank you to all the K-6 families who made it to Back to School Night last week. It was a fun evening and the teachers had a lot of wonderful things to share. There was a buzz in the building - a great start to the year. I look forward to meeting with the 7th and 8th grade families tonight at 7:00pm.

We are finally at full swing with all grades on the regular schedule this week. Remember that Wednesday will be a 2:30 dismissal.

Students will also begin the first STAR test this week. The testing window is September 3 – September 13. Students will be tested four times during the 2017-2018 school year – September, November, February, and May. The students in Grades K and 1 will take the Early Literacy test (one day) and students in Grades 2-8 will complete the STAR Math and STAR Reading exams (on separate days). The STAR test uses adaptive computer software, so depending on how the student answers a question, the next question will become harder or easier. The goal of the first administration of this test is to get a baseline assessment of each student. The tests administered in November, February, and May are to see how students are progressing. The tests are roughly 30 minutes each.

Thanks, and have a wonderful week!

Mr. Chris Uskert
