Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

It has been brought to my attention that we need a reminder about confidentiality within our community. This is taken from the St. Cecilia School Parent Student Handbook:

Confidentiality within our Community
To maintain a supportive, congenial working relationship between parents, teachers, and students, parents as well as students, are asked to refrain from discussing teachers, students, and other parents in any manner that would be interpreted as gossip. If continued discussion about any issue is desired, it is the responsibility of the interested party to speak directly with the person or persons involved and seek to resolve any differences or misunderstandings. Airing negative opinions and remarks with others is often hurtful and/or damaging to those parties being discussed and may result in a family being dismissed from the school.

I am asking parents to please check your child’s cell phone especially “group texts”. It is important that students aren’t talking about each other or their teachers. Also, parents, please do not talk about other children with parents in your texts and emails. If there is a concern please bring it to the attention of the teacher. We all need to protect the character of the students, parents and faculty at St. Cecilia School.

Thank you,

Mrs. Marian Connelly

Report Cards

The first quarter ended last Friday, October 27. Report cards will be sent home on Friday. Please sign and return your child’s report card by Friday, November 10. Next week, November 6-10, school will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. to allow for Parent-Teacher Conferences. You should have received confirmation of a date and time for your conference two weeks ago. Please make sure to arrive on time for your conference. You will receive the STAR Parent Report for the September testing at your conference.

Parents, please walk your children across the streets using the crosswalks. Jaywalking is illegal and you are sending the wrong message to your child when you cross in the middle of the street.

Thank you to the parents who are using the drive-through program for school drop off and pick up. This is a reminder that the upper school yard lot should NOT be used to drop off your children or for afternoon pick up.

With an account, you can add pictures to our folders (that our student yearbook editors can use), build your own custom picture pages, purchase a yearbook in soft cover or hardbound, and more. Once you have created or logged into your account, you can help our student editors create the yearbook by adding pictures to our community folder, "1st Quarter- Family Submitted." Some great pictures to upload would be photos from SC sports games, the Parish Festival, music performances, First Communion, the spring musical, and other SC events! Each quarter, the filled folder will be removed for student editors to sort and select from, and a new folder will be posted for all of our families to fill. Although we are limited by page space and will be unable to print all submitted photos in the yearbook, we rely on families and teachers to provide quality photos for use in the yearbook. Thank you in advance for all of your help!

Contact: Mary Beth McLean at with any questions.

Multicultural Day: What Dish or Talent Will you Share?

Every year St. Cecilia School celebrates the many cultures that make up our community through educational activities, a talent showcase and a food fair. This year’s Multicultural Day will be held on Friday, November 17. On this day students get to try food from all over the world for lunch.

Please click here to sign up to bring a dish to share with the school. We will have food divided into regions around the world. Select the coutry/culture your dish belongs in and include the food type or description in the comments section.

If your country/culture is not on this list and you would like to head that region, please send an email to Jean Roland at Thank you for contributing to our multicultural event.

If you have any questions please contact Sheila at, Catherine at, or Jean at

Talent Showcase

Can you hula? Yodel? Or play an Irish ditty on the mandolin? We are looking for students to share their unique cultural traditions for our annual talent show. Help your children reflect on their cultural traditions as they share a song, a dance, a poem, at our talent showcase.

There will be a practice on Thursday, November 8 at 12:45 p.m. in the Pavilion.

For information on the talent showcase, please email Tara Moriarty at

Christmas Boutique - Thursday December 7th

Preparations are on the way! If interested in volunteering on the day of the Boutique, please send me an email and I will put you on the list.

Some of our stations could use a bit of donation help too! We would welcome donations for our wrap station: holiday wrapping paper, ribbons, scotch tape, tissue paper, and sharpies of all colors! We could also use bags of candy. There are great candy sales going on this week! Or if you have leftover Halloween candy that you want off your hands? Bag them up and donate them to us!

Leave all donations on the bench near the front office marked "Christmas Boutique". Some have asked about donating Christmas funds to the Boutique, if you want to send funds to support the Boutique, make your check payable to St. Cecilia Mothers Club and put it in an envelope label “Christmas Boutique”.
