Message from the Principal


Dear Parents,

Today is the middle of the first quarter! If you have a child in grades 3-8 please log onto your SchoolSpeak account, view the progress report, and electronically sign the progress report by this Friday. Electronic signatures are only required at progress report time and report card time. Some students in grades K-2 may receive a paper progress report. Please sign and return by this Friday.

The countdown is on for the Festival! This weekend brings our St. Cecilia Parish and School Families together - whether you are working a booth, eating at the snack bar, playing Bingo, spinning a wheel, or just socializing with your friends. Please support the work of all the volunteers this weekend. The Festival hours are Friday 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 P.M. – 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thank you to the students and other volunteers who will come on Monday to clean up after the Festival. Remember, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday.

Festival raffle tickets can be downloaded from this eNewsletter! You could win Outdoor Games, an Irish blanket, a compact speaker, a Nintendo-Switch Console, the Durocher Pavilion Party, and/or Free Dress for a week. Please put money and tickets in an envelope marked “Festival Raffles” and return to the school office or turn them in at the Raffle Table in the auditorium during the weekend.

As there is no Extended Care this Friday after school, if your child is going through drive-thru please send a note to the teacher so he/she knows to excuse your child into the right line at the end of the day.

The Festival is coming quickly – September 29, 30, and October 1. Please visit the St. Cecilia Festival website at http://www.scfestival.com. The website allows you to explore the events and activities for the weekend. Check out the raffles, sign up to volunteer, learn about the silent auction and how to sponsor. This will be a wonderful weekend!


PreSale WRISTBANDS for the Carnival Rides!

This year's Festival will have new carnival rides and attractions that appeal to kids of all ages. ORDER YOUR WRISTBANDS TODAY TO SAVE TIME AND MONEY! CLICK HERE for the Wristband presale order form.

Wristbands are $5 more per day purchased at at the Fesitval. The three day option is $115. Presale wristbands will be delivered to classrooms of your oldest child on Friday, September 29th.

Ride tickets will be sold at the Festival for $1 each. Rides will be 3-4 tickets each.


ATTENTION ALL BAKERS: Cookies, Cakes & Brownies NEEDED!

Everyone loves dessert! We ask that each family donates three items, home baked or purchased (but please no items that require refrigeration), or consider a $10 donation. Popular items include brownies, cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, muffins, and Rice Krispy treats. Help to fill our top shelf and blackout items by donating whole cakes or pies.

School News


Second Step

We are in our second week of the Second Step program in grades K-6. If you have not had a chance to activate your Second Step family account, we encourage you to do so (Family Letters with activation codes were given out at Back to School Night for K-6). It’s a great way to learn more about the Second Step program and reinforce what your student is learning. Each week (some grades every other week) K-5 students will receive a hardcopy or digital link of the Home Link Activities that go along with the skills they are learning for the week. Once you activate your account, you will have access to all the materials. There is no need to do the training, just look at the “Families” section.

Note: 7th and 8th grade homeroom teachers are teaching the Second Step- Middle School Curriculum. The 8th graders receive the curriculum 1st and 3rd quarters, 7th graders- 2nd and 4th quarters.

Blessing of the Animals - Celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

Please join us in the Blessing of the Animals in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi on Wednesday, October 4 at 2:45 p.m. in the schoolyard. All parishioners & their pets are invited! Please arrive by 2:45 p.m. with pets on a leash or in a carrier.



Sandwiches for the Needy on Fridays - Starting Next Week

This year we are again providing the opportunity of making a sandwich for the needy every Friday, beginning Friday, October 6. Each Friday, families can send an extra sandwich to school and put it on the bench outside the office. Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society pick up the sandwiches by 9:00 a.m. and deliver them to the Multi-Service Center at 5th and Bryant where 400 people are fed each day. A “Sandwich” reminder is on the calendar for each Friday. Some parents/students have included a note with the sandwich that was greatly appreciated!


Make-Up Picture Day

If your child was absent on the original School Picture Day, missed the opportunity to purchase pictures, or needs to have his/her picture re-taken, Make-Up Picture Day will be on Friday, October 13 at 8:30 a.m.

New Purchases: If your child has not yet had his/her picture taken, now is your opportunity. Call the school office, and we will send home an information packet.
Re-Takes: If you desire a re-take, you must return the complete package to the school office before Tuesday, October 10.

4th Grade Family Math Night - SAVE THE DATE

MOTHERS CLUB


Lunch Volunteers Needed

We need 4 volunteers each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to assist students in picking up their meals. There is NO COOKING NOR FOOD PREP! Volunteers are needed from 10:45 a.m. - 12 noon and 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. We encourage all families to volunteer at least once per quarter.

SCRIP Order Sheets will come home every other week until the holidays, but you can always print an order form from the school website. We will fill orders every week!

Our Process is Simple:
1. Order forms come home by Tuesday. To download a SCRIP order form click here.
2. Return your order with cash or check payable to St. Cecilia Scrip by Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
3. All orders are filled Thursday afternoon with your oldest child or held in the office for pick up.
4. If your SCRIP is not available we will contact you directly to choose something on hand or a date it will be available.

Fall Box Tops Contest Through October 6

Start sending in those Box Tops! Once again, St. Cecilia School will be participating in the Box Tops for Education program. Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to support our school. Box Tops are each worth 10¢, and they quickly add up to real cash! Last school year, our school earned over $1,200, a figure we can easily surpass with everyone's participation. Just look for pink Box Tops on products, clip them, and send them in to your child's teacher. Our first deadline is October 6.
The class submitting the most Box Tops will win a free dress pass and a sweet treat party!
