In two weeks, on Wednesday, September 20 and Thursday, September 21, we begin our Open House Program for prospective new Kindergarten families. If you have any friends who have children ready to begin Kindergarten in August 2018, please let them know about our Open Houses. The Open House begins at 8:30 A.M. and ends at 10:00 A.M. Thank you in advance for letting your friends and family know.
As you know SchoolSpeak is our new student information system. It is imperative that the infozrmation is accurate and completed fully. Please log into your child(ren)’s profile and check for accuracy of all information. Also, please make sure you haven’t left any information blank. One area that is being left blank is in the Medical Information – Disabilities, Allergies, Medications, Allergies to Medications, and Medications to be self-administered by child. Please go into the profile and answer NONE if those don’t apply to your child. Please don’t leave them blank. In the event of an emergency your child will only be released to those people you listed as “Emergency Contacts.” Please make sure you have listed FOUR (4) people who live within 30 minutes of school. Please check that your address, phone numbers, and email addresses are correct. Finally, if you have not been able to access your child’s profile in SchoolSpeak, please email our SchoolSpeak administrator at
Our first month of using Smart Tuition for this school year has been quite smooth for most families. Please remember that your choice of payment date, the 1st or the 15th of the month must be paid on time. If you are mailing a payment please allow 10 business days for your payment. There is NO grace period. Smart Tuition will apply a $50 late fee if tuition is not paid on the due date. Also, you will see Extended Care Tuition, Music Tuition balances and fees, and field trip fees on your Smart Tuition invoice if applicable

Back to School Night: Grades K-6 TONIGHT
Tonight is Back to School Night for Grades K-6. It is imperative that at least one parent attends this evening. Please allow yourself plenty of time to get here and park. We will begin the evening in the church at 7:00 p.m. followed by two sessions in the school.
Citizens of the Week
Each week a student from each primary classroom (K-3) will receive the Citizen of the Week award. The student will receive a badge, a certificate, and his/her picture will be displayed on the Citizen of Week Bulletin Board on the first floor.

Student Book Club
It’s time for Student Book Club again this school year for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders!
Each grade will have separate monthly Book Club Meetings at LUNCH. The meeting dates and book selections will be posted in the eNewsletter and in their classrooms. There is no need to sign-up to participate, students just read the book and show up for the meetings. Students are responsible for purchasing their books or checking them out at the public library. The first Book Club Meeting is today at lunch.

Instrumental music lessons will begin in mid-September once schedules are confirmed. Parents will be notified by the music teacher of the days and times of lessons. If you have any questions please contact Cecilia Cardenas, Director of Music, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Those families who have chosen to pay their child’s music tuition in two installments will see the second charge on the Smart Tuition October invoice.
First Mothers Club Meeting - Let's Get Ready to Rock!

Volunteers Needed for Drive-Through
Volunteers supervise both Drive-Through procedures, and we count on parent volunteers to assist. Arrival volunteers need to be in the schoolyard from 7:40 a.m. to 8:10 a.m., and afternoon volunteers need to be present from 2:50 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. (except Wednesday at 2:20 p.m.).
We encourage all families to volunteer at least once per quarter. We welcome moms, dads, grandmothers and grandfathers to come and assist.

Birthday Book Club
Thank you to all the students and parents who purchased 65 books through the Birthday Book Club the first week of school! All the books will all be donated to our school library. Books may be purchased for $18 at any time to honor your child’s birthday or for a special dedication to a friend or loved one. Please make checks payable to St. Cecilia School.

Fall Box Tops Contest Through October 6
Start sending in those Box Tops! Once again, St. Cecilia School will be participating in the Box Tops for Education program. Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to support our school. Box Tops are each worth 10¢, and they quickly add up to real cash! Last school year, our school earned over $1,200, a figure we can easily surpass with everyone's participation. Just look for pink Box Tops on products, clip them, and send them in to your child's teacher. Our first deadline is October 6.
The class submitting the most Box Tops will win a free dress pass and a sweet treat party! Stuffed Animal Collection

Chocolate and Candy!
Starting Friday, September 8 until Friday the 29th
It's time again to start collecting donations for the Chocolate & Candy Booth for this year’s festival! We will be having a contest for the class who donates the most Chocolate & Candy! The winning class will receive a Wonderful Ice Cream Social with all the trimmings.
Here's how the contest will work:
• Every class will be given a bag with their Grade and Room Number.
• Bags will be collected each week and replaced with new ones
• The Chocolate and Candy will be collected, weighed, and tracked each week.
The class with the most pounds donated will win the Ice Cream Social!

Cub Scout Pack 108 welcomes boys in 1st through 5th grades (member of a Saint Cecilia Parish family or a Saint Cecilia School student) to join for the 2017-2018 year of adventures.
