St. Cecilia Catholic School is accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA). WCEA accredits Catholic elementary and secondary schools in nine western states (26 (arch) dioceses) and the US Territory of Guam. WCEA co-accredits and is in partnership with three Regional agencies (WASC, NAAS, NCA) and two private agencies (CAIS and HAIS). WCEA began in 1957 in San Francisco and has a long and successful history of assisting school improvement through the accreditation process.
Welcome back! As you know SchoolSpeak. is our new student information system. It is imperative that the information is accurate and completed fully. In printing out the profiles I am noticing that some information has been left blank. One area that is being left blank is in the Medical Information – Disabilities, Allergies, Medications, Allergies to Medications, and Medications to be self-administered by child. Please go into the profile and answer NONE if those don’t apply to your child. Please don’t leave them blank. In the event of an emergency your child will only be released to those people you listed as “Emergency Contacts.” Please make sure you have listed FOUR (4) people who live within 30 minutes of school. Finally, please check that your address, phone numbers, and email addresses are correct.

Thank you to the Mothers Club for organizing the Kindergarten play date at the park last Saturday. Many new friendships were formed playing at the park! Thank you to all those who supported the Saturday evening dinner at the UICC. It was a great night of eating, socializing and dancing. Also, thanks to the moms for hosting the Welcome Back Coffee and Pastries on Tuesday.
There are many MANDATORY meetings to attend in the upcoming weeks. Each one is important. Please allow yourself plenty of time to find parking and get to these meetings on time. I look forward to seeing and visiting with you.
Thank you to the volunteers who came on Saturday to the annual MOSC workday. These men painted the walls along the school side of the yard, the benches and areas inside the building; and cleaned up the schoolyard. A special thanks to Liam Reidy and Chris McDonald for organizing the event. We appreciate the extra help in getting the school plant ready for the children.

Mr. Watters will be offering his keyboarding class once again this fall. An application form was placed on the desks of students in Grades 4-6 on Registration Day. If you do not get a registration form, please email Mr. Watters at email@example.com. This class will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:25 A.M. -7:55 A.M. They will begin on Tuesday, September 12th and end on Thursday, December 7th. Click here for the registration form.
Shoes for boys and girls (K-8):
All white leather, low-cut, tie or velcro tennis shoe with court sole (no zipper style shoes)
White leather Keds are acceptable (no zipper style shoes)
Girls are not allowed to wear make-up, nail polish, acrylic nails, multiple, dangling, or hoop earrings. A single post in each ear is acceptable. Boys are not to wear earrings. Wearing one watch is acceptable! Scrunches, hair clips, hair bands, etc. must be in the hair, not worn on the wrist.
School sweaters are required for formal school assemblies and school Masses. Blocks and Stars from Sports Awards for Grades 7-8 are sewn on the lower right of the sweater. School sweatshirts are not worn in the classrooms. If students choose to wear a sweatshirt outside at recess times, it must be a school sweatshirt. All boys must wear a belt!
We will be billing tuition as well as all fees (field trips, music tuition, extended care tuition, drama fees, etc) to your SMART Tuition account. For families who pay annually, please check your account monthly for miscellaneous fees. Your monthly payments are due on either the 1st or 15th of the month. SMART Tuition will NO longer send an invoice via US postal service unless you had previously opted in to receive a paper invoice. Otherwise, all invoices will be emailed. Please look for your invoice in your email account that you used when signing on to SMART Tuition. Also, if you are late with a payment a $50 late fee will be applied.
If you are paying by check, please allow 10 business days for SMART Tuition to receive your check and process it.
Volunteers Needed for Drive-Through
Volunteers supervise both Drive-Through procedures, and we count on parent volunteers to assist. Arrival volunteers need to be in the schoolyard from 7:40 a.m. to 8:10 a.m., and afternoon volunteers need to be present from 2:50 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. (except Wednesday at 2:20 p.m.).
We encourage all families to volunteer at least once per quarter. We welcome moms, dads, grandmothers and grandfathers to come and assist.

Room Parent Volunteers
The Head Room Parents are responsible for assigning volunteers to organize class parties, encourage involvement in the Parish Festival and Mothers Club Fundraiser and in organizing other class events. The Assistant Room Parent is responsible for coordinating an assigned group of parents for a specific class party or event.

We continue to receive quarterly checks from SCHOOLA! The school just received a check for $341.38. Thank you for your continued support. SCHOOLA is an organization that allows parents to donate gently used kids and women’s clothing by mail from home throughout the year which allows them to clean out their closet for the benefit of their school. Birthday Book Club
Welcome to the St. Cecilia 2017-2018 school year from the Birthday Book Club. Please come check us out on Registration Day in the auditorium. We have a great selection of books to choose from this year. Remember all books are $18.00 and go to the school library. Fall Box Tops Contest Through October 6
Start sending in those Box Tops! Once again, St. Cecilia School will be participating in the Box Tops for Education program. Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to support our school. Box Tops are each worth 10˘, and they quickly add up to real cash! Last school year, our school earned over $1,200, a figure we can easily surpass with everyone's participation. Just look for pink Box Tops on products, clip them, and send them in to your child's teacher. Our first deadline is October 6.

Schoolyard MOVIE Night: September 16!
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie The School of Rock begins at sunset. Concession stands will be open for snacks and beverages.
Festival free dress (festival t-shirts + free dress bottoms) will be allowed on Thursday, September 28 and Friday September 29th. If a child does not purchase a festival t-shirt, they cannot wear free dress. We will have shirts for sale and we will accept orders through the first week of school ONLY (August 21-25) we will not accept additional orders for exceptional sizes after August 25, but we will sell stock on hand until we run out.
