Message from Mrs. Connelly


Dear Parents,

My sincere thanks to each and every one of you who have gifted, supported, and prayed for me. I’ve been privileged to teach and be principal here for many years, I have witnessed your generosity at school and parish appeals, students, families, parishioners, and organizations have asked for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure. As I am now the one in need of your faith, love, and support, I have been overwhelmed by your lovely words, actions, prayers, and offers of every kind to help ease my suffering, as I undergo treatment to restore my health. I am humbled, blessed, and very grateful to be a part of such a faith-filled, compassionate, and loving Catholic community.

There’s only ten days left until the Mothers Club’s annual spring fundraiser “Let the Good Times Roll”! Please join our community as we board the SS Vicente to enjoy jazz, southern fare, dancing, games, and supporting our students by raising our glasses and paddles.

Also, please check the condition of your child’s uniform. Jumpers, skirts, blouses, shirts, pants, and sweaters must fit properly and be clean. During the spring the students have many formal assemblies and Masses to attend and we want them to look their best. If your child is wearing a sweatshirt to school it must be a St. Cecilia School sweatshirt. Please check shoes. They need to be all white and leather.

Children should not be in the schoolyard until 5 minutes before sports or drama practice starts unless they are enrolled in Extended Care. There should be no “hanging out” before practices.

Parents, please supervise your children in the yard after school hours and in the auditorium during Sunday coffee and donuts. Many children are running around, getting injured, and bumping into people. Also, please help clean up after coffee and donuts. The school children should not be entering a messy auditorium on Monday morning.

As we begin the fourth quarter of school this Monday, please keep an eye on the school calendar as there are many wonderful school and community events in the upcoming weeks.

Less Than TWO WEEKS TO GO!

You purchased your ticket, you have your dress and suit, now what? Let’s review the night!

Board the SC Vicente through the Collins Center on 18th Avenue. There you will check in and receive your program, bidding information, and your paddle. Please do not enter the event from the schoolyard.

This year, all bidding for the silent auction will be done on your phone. No paper bid sheets will be available. Bring your phone fully charged! You will need it to make your bids on the silent auction, faculty auction, and art projects. If you forgot your phone, a bidding assistant can help you with your bids at the event. There will be a charging station available as well as free WiFi.


How does Mobile Bidding Work?

Register now or login to preview items. Make sure to fill in the cell phone number section of your user profile as this is how you’ll receive your text notifications. Your user profile can be found in the upper right corner once you login at:

Bid on your favorite items and bet your maximum bid (the most you will pay for an item). Put your phone away and enjoy the night OR watch the bidding on your phone in real time & raise your Maximum Bid, if necessary. After bidding closes, check your bids & see what you won. All silent auction winners will pick up their items after the event. No items will be available for disbursement on the night of the gala.


Online Bidding Opening Monday, March 19th

Go to scvicente.ggo.bid beginning Monday to begin bidding on all online bidding items. Even if you are unable to board the SC Vicente, you still have the opportunity to bid on some wonderful items. Don’t miss out on class projects, event tickets, or pay to play parties. Bid from wherever you are that night and you can still take home the items you want!

After the event, depart The S.C. Vicente and head to McCarthy's Irish Pub on West Portal. McCarthy’s will be donating 10% of late night sales back to SC!


Do you like to party? Why not host one?

We need your help! We are looking for St. Cecilia families and friends to sponsor parties. You can host a party for kids, adults, or both. All you need to do is pick a theme, name a place, and set a number of guests. SC community members can buy a ticket to be one of your guests. It’s always a fun time and a great way to raise money for SC.

Raise the Paddle for SC!

Last year, our generous community donated enough money through Raise the Paddle to implement our amazing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) program!

At this year’s fundraiser, Raise the Paddle donations will be used to continue the ever popular coding classes, install three water bottle refilling stations throughout the school building, and to supply the school with Next Generation Science Standard curriculum kits! Please consider Raising Your Paddle and showing your support! Together we can help SC and benefit our children!

Shhhh! - The Secret Gaming Room Aboard the SC Vicente will Open March 24th at 9 p.m.

Yearbook Ordering and Custom Pages Deadline

All orders AND custom page designs are due by March 28th!

Already have an account from last year? Make sure to select "Log In." If you already have a TreeRing account with another school and you need to add our school’s passcode, it is 1013442885293677.

If you want to help the yearbook team by submitting photos we can select from to use on the main yearbook pages, the due date for these photo submissions to the "Q3 Family Submitted" folder on TreeRing is this Friday, March 9th. These photos should be taken at SC or at SC-sponsored events/games only (no home pictures, sorry). Although we are limited by page space and are unable to include all submitted photos, thank you in advance for all of your help in sharing your favorite memories and moments at SC!

With your purchase, you will have the option of creating two free custom, personalized pages for your child’s yearbook! Make sure to include your favorite photos of your child from 2017-18 on your child's customized pages. These page designs must be finished by March 28th. When you are done, remember to mark them “Print Ready!” Happy designing!

SMART TUITION: Year-End Statements now available

Smart Tuition is now providing Year End Statements for your convenience. The Year End Statement lists payments made to a family's Smart Tuition account for the calendar year of 2017.

Families can access this statement by logging on to their account at www.parent.smarttuition.com and clicking on "Family Year End Statement" or "Student Year End Statement" which will trigger a PDF download to their computer.
Please note, Smart Tuition cannot send a copy of the statement, it must be retrieved by the family online.

BASIC FUND 2018: Tuition Assistance Program

CLICK HERE for information regarding the BASIC Fund 2017 Program.
Applications are for new students attending private school for the first time only. Siblings already attending St. Cecilia School and not receiving the BASIC Fund can be included as long as one student in the family is attending St. Cecilia School for the first time.

Please note that there is one deadline for new applications: March 10. The earlier families apply for a scholarship the better the chance they will be awarded one.

Renewal packets will be distributed to the schools during March 2018 for all renewing students. Renewing families do not fill out a new application unless they are adding a new child in the fall. Renewing families adding a new child in the fall must complete a new application for the new child. Archdiocesan Family Grants

The Archdiocese has chosen TADS to process applications for the Archdiocesan Family Grant tuition assistance program. To apply for an Archdiocesan Family Grant, parents should go to the TADS website, www.tads.com. Once on their homepage click the link “Apply for Financial Aid” on the right side of the page which is under the “Parents & Families” heading. Once you have completed filling out the online form, submit it and your application will be processed. The deadline for completing the application for elementary school assistance is April 15, 2018.

SCRIP

SCRIP Order Sheets will come home every other week, but you can always print an order form from the school website. We will fill orders every week!

Our Process is Simple:
1. Order forms come home by Tuesday or by CLICKING HERE.
2. Return your order with cash or check payable to St. Cecilia SCRIP by Thursday at 9:00 a.m. 3. All orders are filled Thursday afternoon with your oldest child or held in the office for pick up.
4. If your SCRIP is not available we will contact you directly to choose something on hand or a date it will be available.

Birthday Book Club

Many of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and, 4th grade classrooms are already halfway to a free dress pass for the class! When a class donates 20 books, they are awarded a free dress pass. When 25 books are donated, they are awarded an ice cream party at the end of the school year!

Books can be purchased through the BBC for $18 at any time to honor your child’s birthday or for a special dedication to a friend or loved one for any occasion.
