Message from Mrs. Connelly


Dear Parents,

Please close the “door gates” into the school yard. We want to keep our campus secure. Please remember that at dismissal the students should not be running around in the schoolyard.

The end of the third quarter is on Friday, March 16. Please check SchoolSpeak to help your child be successful. If he/she is missing any work please make sure to have your child turn it into the teacher.

Thank you to the Chinese Club for the wonderful evening on February 24. The families enjoyed wonderful food and a fantastic presentation from our students who participate in the Chinese Club Language Program.

Please support the Mothers Club Fundraiser by purchasing your tickets to the event. See ticket information below. A great night of fun is being planned. You don’t want to miss out!

FESTIVAL!

We just received a check for $71,074.58 from the Festival Committee. Thank you to all who worked and supported our Festival.

6th Grade Family Math Night: NEW DATE!

6th graders and parents: Please mark your calendar for Thursday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. for Family Math, an evening of fun, games and learning. Parents, please come and support your child as he or she engages in puzzles, brain teasers and more. No siblings, please. Family Math runs from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Lower Church.


Yearbook Ordering and Custom Pages Deadline

All orders AND custom page designs are due by March 28th!

For your child to receive a 2017-2018 St. Cecilia School Yearbook this May, you must place an online order through TreeRing.com. If you have not done this yet, your child received a note home on Tuesday, February 6th with instructions. Click here to create an account..
Already have an account from last year? Make sure to select "Log In." If you already have a TreeRing account with another school and you need to add our school’s passcode, it is 1013442885293677.

With your account, you can purchase a yearbook, design custom pages for your child’s yearbook (if you wish), and contribute pictures from SC events/sports games to our shared folders that our student yearbook editors can use! Although we are limited by page space and may be unable to include all submitted photos, thank you in advance for all of your help in sharing your favorite memories and moments at SC!

With your purchase, you will have the option of creating two free custom, personalized pages for your child’s yearbook! These page designs must be finished by March 28th. When you are done, remember to mark them “print ready.” Happy designing!

SMART TUITION: Year-End Statements now available

Smart Tuition is now providing Year End Statements for your convenience. The Year End Statement lists payments made to a family's Smart Tuition account for the calendar year of 2017.

Families can access this statement by logging on to their account at www.parent.smarttuition.com and clicking on "Family Year End Statement" or "Student Year End Statement" which will trigger a PDF download to their computer.
Please note, Smart Tuition cannot send a copy of the statement, it must be retrieved by the family online.

BASIC FUND 2018: Tuition Assistance Program

CLICK HERE for information regarding the BASIC Fund 2017 Program.
Applications are for new students attending private school for the first time only. Siblings already attending St. Cecilia School and not receiving the BASIC Fund can be included as long as one student in the family is attending St. Cecilia School for the first time.

Please note that there is one deadline for new applications: March 10. The earlier families apply for a scholarship the better the chance they will be awarded one.

Renewal packets will be distributed to the schools during March 2018 for all renewing students. Renewing families do not fill out a new application unless they are adding a new child in the fall. Renewing families adding a new child in the fall must complete a new application for the new child. If you have any questions, please contact the BASIC Fund at 415-986-5650 or visit www.basicfund.org.


Archdiocesan Family Grants

The Archdiocese has chosen TADS to process applications for the Archdiocesan Family Grant tuition assistance program. To apply for an Archdiocesan Family Grant, parents should go to the TADS website, www.tads.com. Once on their homepage click the link “Apply for Financial Aid” on the right side of the page which is under the “Parents & Families” heading. Once you have completed filling out the online form, submit it and your application will be processed. The deadline for completing the application for elementary school assistance is April 15, 2018.

MOTHERS CLUB


SCRIP

SCRIP Order Sheets will come home every other week, but you can always print an order form from the school website. We will fill orders every week!

Our Process is Simple:
1. Order forms come home by Tuesday or by CLICKING HERE.
2. Return your order with cash or check payable to St. Cecilia SCRIP by Thursday at 9:00 a.m. 3. All orders are filled Thursday afternoon with your oldest child or held in the office for pick up.
4. If your SCRIP is not available we will contact you directly to choose something on hand or a date it will be available.

Birthday Book Club

Thank you to everyone who has donated books through the Birthday Book Club so far this school year. We have added 87 great new books to our school library! Books may be purchased through the BBC for $18 at any time to honor your child’s birthday or for a special dedication to a friend or loved one for any occasion.

Remember, every class that donates 20 books will be awarded a free dress pass for the entire class. Each class that donates 25 books will also be awarded an ice cream party at the end of the school year!

Spring Concert

Grades 2, 4, 6, and 7 will participate in our own Spring Concert. It will be on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the church. This is a mandatory event for all students in grades 2, 4, 6, and 7. Following this concert the Mothers Club will be hosting the first ever STEAM Art Preview Night.

ATHLETICS


RUN Don't Walk - It's TRACK Season!

Yes, it’s that time of year. Track season is just around the corner. Mr. Mogannam will be coming around to the classrooms February 16th ( tentatively) to talk to the students about the upcoming track season. Our goal is to get the athletes excited and RUNNING before the season even starts.

A few important things:

First practice: Friday, March 2nd, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. at the St. Ignatius track field. Practice time has been adjusted at the request of the SI Coaches.

Track Shorts: We are looking into ordering “real” running shorts for the team.

High School/College Volunteers (service hours)
We are looking for high school volunteers to act as assistant coaches. This will qualify as service hours for those that need them. Please contact us at the above email. We need everything from data entry, record keeping, leading exercises and drills, setup and breakdown at the meets. We could even use a photographer. We are also seeking parent volunteers to help organize, guide and corral the athletes. We anticipate 80-90 athletes participating in the track season. If every parent/guardian volunteered just one hour, we would have all the help we need. A special thank you to those of you who have volunteered much more than that. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have. WITHOUT THE STUDENT AND PARENT VOLUNTEERS THE TRACK PROGRAM WOULD NOT HAPPEN.

Centennial Photo Display

The St. Cecilia 100 Year Photo Display will be a featured exhibit at the San Francisco History Days at the Old Mint! The final display from last year's centennial celebrations, an abbreviated timeline of our community's history covering major milestones for both the parish and school, will be shared with the city of San Francisco during this fantastic event. If you didn't get the chance to see the display last year or would like to see it again, please stop by!
This event is free and open to the public.
