||MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Last week we received a check from Target in the amount of $316.27! Thanks to you, the teachers and other supporters in our community, St. Cecilia School is benefiting from Take Charge of Education. Every time you shop with your REDcard, Target donates 1% of purchases at Target and Target.com. Please continue to keep St. Cecilia School as your designated school.
A special thank you to all those who have been contributing to your child’s celebration of Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year. The children appreciate the treats and many art projects that have been done. Also, thank you to all the parents who have signed up to chaperone on the many field trips. The students are learning so much by going on these wonderful educational adventures.

The re-registration letter for 2015-2016 school year was sent home on Wednesday, January 28, with your oldest child. Those families whose tuition account is not paid to date and have not made arrangements with a member of the School Finance Committee are not eligible for re-registration. The re-registration fee ($250 per child) is due TODAY, Wednesday, February 25.

Emergency Notification - Sign Up Today!
St. Cecilia School is implementing an alert notification system to be used in case of an emergency through the company "BeeHively. " We ask all families to please sign up. This alert system is strictly to communicate events such as: school lockdowns, natural disasters, and any other types of major emergencies that require parent notification.
This notification system will not replace our Wednesday eNewsletter.
In order to receive alerts, parents/guardians need to register their contact information. Please click on the link below and follow the instructions for registration. We will be testing this emergency alert system in a few weeks.

The Archdiocese has chosen TADS to process applications for The Archdiocesan Family Grant tuition assistance program is open to applications through the TADS website. To apply for a grant parents should go to www.TADS.com.

Click the link “Apply for Financial Aid” on the right side of the page which is under the “Parents & Families” heading.
The deadline for completing the application for elementary school assistance is April 15, 2015.
Click here for information regarding the BASIC Fund 2015 Program. Applications are for new students attending private school for the first time only. Siblings already attending St. Cecilia School and not receiving the BASIC Fund can be included as long as one student in the family is attending St. Cecilia School for the first time.
BASIC FUND 2015: Tuition Assistance Program
Please note that there is one deadline for new applications: March 13. The earlier families apply for a scholarship the better the chance they will be awarded one.
Packets will be distributed to the schools during March 2015 for all renewing students. Renewing families do not fill out a new application unless they are adding a new child in the fall. Renewing families adding a new child in the fall must complete a new application for the new child.

Birthday Book Club
Thank you to all the parents, students and family members who have donated books through the Birthday Book Club! The Kindergarten Blue class is leading in donations with 12 books so far this school year. Each class that donates 20 books will be awarded a free dress pass. Each class that donates 25 books will also be awarded an ice cream party! Books may be purchased through the BBC for $18 at any time to honor your child’s birthday or for a special dedication to a friend or loved one.

School Lenten Collection - Lesotho
This Lenten season, as in years past, we will be collecting money for the Sisters of the Holy
Names ministry in Lesotho, Africa. The money collected this year will go towards school
supplies, uniform expenses, tuition, and field trip experiences.

Friday soup dinners will take place in the Lower Church at 6:00 p.m. In order to know how much soup to prepare, please phone the rectory (664-8481) by the Wednesday before the Friday Soup Dinner so that we will prepare the proper amount of soup. The signups are weekly.

Stations of the Cross and Benediction
Stations of the Cross and Benediction will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Church on Fridays.
The Divine Office is the Official Prayer of the Church. The parish prays Morning Prayer at 8:20 a.m. in Our Lady’s Chapel.
24 Hour Eucharistic Adoration
Every Friday during Lent the parish will have Eucharistic Adoration beginning after the 7:00 a.m. Mass.
Anointing of the Sick
On Sunday, March 8 during the 11:30 a.m. Mass the parish will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
Reconciliation Rite II
On Saturday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m. the parish will celebrate Reconciliation Rite II.
Box Tops Winner
Congratulations to Grade 3, Room 9 for submitting the most Box Tops! Mrs. DiFilippo's class has won a sweet treat party and free dress! Thank you to everyone who participated. Our last collection for this school year will be in early May, so please continue clipping and sending in those valuable Box Tops.

St. Patrick's Dinner
The 35th annual St Patrick's Dinner and Concert for our St Cecilia parish family will be held on Saturday, March 7th in the Durocher Pavilion. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for children under 18, and children under 5 are free with a ticketed adult.
Tables of 8 or 10 may be reserved in advance. Individual tickets are also sold.
NO tickets will be sold at the door.

Lunar New Year Dinner
The SC Chinese Club will have its Lunar New Year Dinner Celebration on Saturday, March 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lower Church. The evening features a catered buffet by KC Catering of Lava Lounge, raffles and performances by our Mandarin Class students. All are welcomed. Cost is $40 for adults, $20 for ages 12 and under (children 5 years old and under are free).

The 2015 St. Cecilia track team is getting ready to start its 11th season and is inviting all 5th through 8th graders, to join our first practice on Friday, March 6 from 4-6 p.m. @ Cox Stadium on the campus of San Francisco State University. No prior experience is necessary.

We will practice on Fridays from 4-6 p.m. at Cox Stadium and meets will be on Sunday afternoons in late March, April and into mid-May.

St. Cecilia participates in the Peninsula Parishes/Schools League (PPSL) along with 16 other Catholic parishes/schools. Meets are held Sunday afternoons at several high schools in San Mateo County. The events are the 4X100, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 4X400, Long Jump, High Jump, and Shotput.
We know that our athletes compete and participate in other sports and activities and cannot make every practice and/or meet. We understand that our athletes compete in other sports. That is okay; we want you to do your other sports/activities and participate track when they are available. We find that when kids are not under pressure, they enjoy what they are doing and want to be there. This approach has contributed to the success of our program.
