Free Dress!
The Student Council has declared a Free Dress Day on Friday, December 18. This will be a “Red, Green, or Christmas Theme” free dress. More details will be sent home next week!


Thanks!
The Orford family would like to thank Sr. Marilyn, the faculty, staff and the parents of St Cecilia school for their kind thoughts, prayers, generosity, and support throughout the past few months. We are on the road to recovery and the doctors are very happy with our progress. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Drama Club News
After two days of auditions the cast for the spring musical “Once on this Island” has been selected. Rehearsals begin Saturday January 16 and continue each Saturday until show week.

Again this year there will be three shows:
Friday April 23rd at 7pm
Saturday April 24th at 7pm
Sunday April 25th at 2pm.

Parents of cast please note: there is a mandatory parent meeting tonight Wednesday, December 16th at 7pm in the school auditorium. We ask that every cast member have a parent in attendance at this meeting.

Please mark your calendars to attend St. Cecilia Multicultural Day. Every year the International Talent Show and Food Fair brings us together to share culture with talent and cuisine, and to celebrate the unique backgrounds of the St. Cecilia community. At this time, we are calling for all ethnic folk dancers, singers, musicians, actors, and poets to perform in our Talent Show.

Advent/Christmas


Advent Requests
Thank you for your overwhelmingly generous response to requests for both the Advent Giving Tree and Toys for Tots. St. Cecilia School families will be making Christmas brighter for many children in the Bay Area!


Christmas Boutique
It’s that time of the year again. The Christmas Boutique will be held tomorrow, December 17. The elves are busy working to get the boutique ready for the kids! A BIG thank you to the chairpersons: Celine Calalang and Mariwil Wong.

Spirit of Christmas
On Friday, December 18, at 11:30, Monsignor Harriman and the 8th grade Peer Leaders have planned a prayer service in Church entitled “The Spirit of Christmas”. You are welcome to join us!

Epiphany Parties
In keeping with the spirit of Advent, we will not have Christmas parties before vacation. Classes will have Epiphany parties on Friday, January 8. May the Advent season bring you deep blessings, and may the light of Christ fill your days with peace.

St. Cecilia Mothers’ Club Recipe Collection
Need any last minute holiday gifts? Consider the SC cookbook. They will be available at both the Rectory and Collins Center during normal operating hours. Books are $15 each or 3 for $30. Hot Lunch Volunteers Needed
It is volunteer time to help out in January, February, March, April, and May! To keep the FABULOUS hot lunch food coming, we need 8 volunteers each day from 11:00-1:15. There is no food preparation! You just help each student pick up their meals. It is great fun, and the kids LOVE to see their parents helping out. Please consider taking on a few shifts in 2010!! Here are the dates for which we need assistance:
January: 5, 7, 12 ,14, 19, 21, 26, 28
February: 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25
March: 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30
April: 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29
May: 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27

H1N1 Vaccination Clinic
The San Francisco Department of Public Health is holding a free H1N1 Vaccination Clinic on Tuesday, December 22, at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, from 10:00 A.M.-7:00 P.M. The Health Department encourages San Francisco residents in the high risk groups to attend this clinic and get their free H1N1 vaccine. Click here for more information.

Altar Servers
Students who have been trained to serve daily and Sunday Masses during the Fall of 2009 will be commissioned as Altar Servers on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at the 9:30 A.M. Mass. Family, friends and fellow students are encouraged to attend Mass and celebrate St. Cecilia's newest Altar Servers.


Fifth grade altar servers will begin their training in the Spring of 2010. You'll be contacted at the end of January. If you are a fifth grader and did not sign up on registration day and you want to be trained, please contact Luana Letele (415-682-3610), and I will put you on the list. Thank you very much!
