SCHOOL NEWS: November 18-24
Minimum Day Reminder
Monday, November 23 Teacher In-Service. Dismissal is at 12:30 pm.
Thanks!
Thanks to all families who donated a non-perishable food item to the St. Vincent
de Paul Society Food Drive last week! We had an overwhelming response!
Drinking Fountain Closure
To help prevent the spread of colds and flu, we will have a temporary closure of the school drinking fountains (both inside and out). Beginning Monday, November 23, the drinking fountains will be covered. Your child may want to bring a bottle of water to school, but please make sure each bottle has your child’s name on it.
The Mother's Club will offer "St. Cecilia School" water bottles for sale in the schoolyard after school tomorrow, Thursday, November 19. You can also click here for an order form. There are approximately 20 bottles remaining. At $8 each, they are perfect way for your student to make it through the drinking fountain closure!
We will also have St. Cecilia's sweatshirts, T-shirts and other spirit items available.... Get them while they last!
Yearbook Pictures
Please send in pictures of any school event for the 2009-2010 School Yearbook. We would like to include as many students and events as possible in the yearbook. We especially need pictures of athletic events. Please send pictures to: Yearbook Staff—Grade 8 Room 14. We will be collecting pictures through the end of January.
Little Sisters of the Poor
Again this year we have received an appeal from the Little Sisters of the Poor to collect items for their residents at St. Anne’s Home for the Aged. Students can bring their donations to the classrooms from Monday, November 16 through Friday, November 20. Requested items include:
Kleenex
Mouthwash
Body Wash (not bar soap)
Shampoo
Skin Lotion
Baby Wipes
Efferdent Denture Cleaner
Thank you for your generous contributions.
Drama Club News: Improv Show! - FREE Admission!
We are very lucky to have a Drama Club under the direction of Ms. Katy Porter. This fall Katy offered Saturday Improv classes to students in Grades 4-8. Katy does a wonderful job of introducing children to basic acting techniques and terminology and creates a safe space where children can be creative, silly, and take risks. Many Drama Club students have uncovered and explored new found talents.
We look forward to an Improv Matinee on Saturday, November 21, from 1:30 to 3:00 in the school auditorium. Admission is free! Come and join the fun!
In January, we will have auditions for students in Grades 4-8 for our spring musical, Once On This Island. This will be an exciting venture, and we look forward to another fabulous musical performance. More information will be sent home in December.
Technology Workshop For Kids
Shaz Lawrence will offer a computer workshop for students in Grades K-8, at St. Thomas More School, December 21-24, from 9:00-3:00. The cost for the four days is $120 and includes all materials. To register on line or for more information, parents can visit the website www.bayareatech.org
