Minimum Day--Monday, September 28, Teacher In-Service Monday, September 28th is a 12:30 P.M. dismissal for ALL grades. School Pictures If you were absent on the original School Picture Day, missed the opportunity to purchase pictures, or need to have pictures re-taken, Make-Up Picture Day will be on Thursday, October 8, at 8:30 A.M. NEW PURCHASES: If your child has not yet had his/her picture taken, now is your opportunity. Call the school office, and we will send home an information packet. RE-TAKES: If you desire a re-take, you must return the complete package to the school office before Monday, October 5. Music Department News: One Opening for Guitar Lawrence Paul, our new guitar teacher, has an opening at 1:25 on Mondays and 9:40 or 1:55 on Wednesdays. Each family received a brown bag at Back To School Night to be filled with emergency supplies. The following suggested items should be placed into the brown bag: * 4 granola bars (NO peanuts) * 2 fruit cups or pudding in cans, NOT refrigerated * 2 fruit roll ups * 2 small canned juice (5.5 oz) - NO fruit boxes * 1 pint plastic bottled water * 2 small pocket sized Kleenex * 1 bag of hard candy * 1 deck of playing cards, or small handheld game Seal the bag with tape, and on the front print in large letters your child’s name, grade and room number. Chinese Mandarin (Pin Yin) Class There is still space available in the Chinese Mandarin (Pin Yin) Classes, which is being offered by the St. Cecilia’s Chinese Club. It is for students in Grades 2 through 5. This is a beginners' class and will meet once a week after school on Fridays, from 3:30 P.M. to 5 P.M. in the Serra Room. Check the September calendar for the exact dates of the testing. Students should not be leaving for appointments on these days. Macy’s Shop For A Cause on Saturday, October 17, 2009! Birthday Book Club News The Birthday Book Club is off to a great start with a total of 46 books donated so far this year. Congratulations to Mr. Fong's class, Grade 5 Room 18, who have already won a free dress pass AND an ice cream party for their donation of 25 books. Snack Bar Sign Up Dates The Saint Cecilia Athletic Board fundraising activities help to defray many of the costs for our sports programs. We need your help. We are asking that each volleyball athlete’s parent sign up for ONE THREE HOUR SHIFT serving in our snack bar during volleyball season. Friends of the Poor Walk The St. Vincent de Paul Society is sponsoring the second annual “Friends of the Poor Walk” on Saturday, September 26. They will begin with an outdoor Mass at at 8:00 A.M. at the starting site and then walk to celebrate 150 years of service to the poor in San Francisco! This is a 5K walk around Lake Merced to raise awareness and funds for food, clothing, beds, and basic utilities for the poor who the St. Vincent De Paul Society serves in San Francisco.
