Jaywalking...

Please Don't!
Once again for everyone's safety we are asking parents and students NOT to jaywalk! We need your cooperation!
Eucharistic Ministers
Would you like to be a Eucharistic Minister at our school Masses? Please email Sr. Marilyn mmiller@stceciliaschool.org if you want to continue serving as a Eucharistic minister, or if you would like to be trained as a Eucharistic Minister for school Liturgies (usually on Fridays, at 11:00 A.M.).
Student Emergency Kits
Each family received a brown bag at Back To School Night to be filled with emergency supplies.
The following suggested items should be placed into the brown bag:
* 4 granola bars (NO peanuts)
* 2 fruit cups or pudding in cans, NOT refrigerated
* 2 fruit roll ups
* 2 small canned juice (5.5 oz) - NO fruit boxes
* 1 pint plastic bottled water
* 2 small pocket sized Kleenex
* 1 bag of hard candy
* 1 deck of playing cards, or small handheld game
Seal the bag with tape, and on the front print in large letters your child’s name, grade and room number. Please send to school with your child by Wednesday, September 23.

Standardized Testing
On Monday, September 21, we will begin the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (standardized testing) for Grades 2-8. Check the September calendar for the exact dates of the testing. Students should not be leaving for appointments on these days.

Archdiocesan Maintenance Plan
The Archdiocese of San Francisco has prepared an operation and maintenance plan intended to minimize the risk to students from airborne asbestos. As part of this plan, the Archdiocese has repaired and/or removed any damaged asbestos contained in building materials and has undertaken a long-term management program, including removal of asbestos materials. MOTHERS' CLUB
Mothers' Club Meeting
Join us for a "Julie and Julia" inspired night of gourmet food and wine on Wednesday, September 30, at 7:00 P.M., for our first meeting of the year. We will showcase our culinary talents, taste some good wine, and hear from Ms. Santy and Mrs. Fergus about the Step Up To Writing Program for Grades K-8!

Hot Lunch Volunteers!
We need 7 volunteers each Tuesday & Thursday to assist students in picking up their meals. There is NO COOKING OR FOOD PREP! Volunteers are needed in the McKay Center from 11:00 A.M. until 1:15 P.M. Please mark those days that you are able to volunteer. You will receive confirmation notices via email. Thank you VERY much for helping!
The dates for which we still need volunteers are:
October 8, 15, 20, 29
November 10, 17, 24
December 3, 8, 15, 17

FESTIVAL: OCTOBER 23 - 25
Ciao Tutti! Welcome Back!
It's that time of year again, and we are hard at work getting ready for this year's Parish Festival, Roman Holiday. One of the easiest way you can get involved is to become a Booth Sponsor. The contribution you make today will help defray the cost of booth set up and maintenance, decorations and prizes. Your contribution is essential to the success of the festival.
You can contribute at the Colosseum Level for $200, at the Trevi Fountain Level for $150 or at the Spanish Steps Level for $100. All donations graciously accepted.
Please fill out the Booth Sponsor form (click here) and return it to the school office in an envelope marked "Festival" or mail it to the rectory at 2555-17th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94116.
Please note that our Vatican Level of $400 will prominently display your business or family name on your favorite booth for the entire weekend!
As always, the festival will be a very fun weekend. You will enjoy events and games for all ages. Please join us, enjoy yourself and accept our many thanks for all your kind support. Watch for upcoming raffle items and new games!

Stuffed Toy Collection
Please bring your stuffed toy donations into school starting ASAP!All donations are welcome, and we need plenty! We will be responsible for cleaning them. Please bring them to school and leave them on the bench by school office starting Friday, September 11 through Friday, September 25. This booth is one of the children's favorites, so we need lots of donations

Community Meeting
Supervisor Elsbernd and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency invite you to a community meeting to learn about upcoming construction upgrades to the St. Francis Circle intersection. At the meeting you will hear about construction hours, traffic planning, public transportation, and other aspects of the project that will affect your area. Construction is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2010.

SVDP: Friends of the Poor Walk
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is sponsoring a the second annual “Friends of the Poor Walk” on Saturday, September 26. They will begin with an outdoor Mass at at 8:00 A.M. at the starting site and then walk to celebrate 150 years of service to the poor in San Francisco! This is a 5K walk around Lake Merced to raise awareness and funds for food, clothing, beds, and basic utilities for the poor who the St. Vincent De Paul Society serves in San Francisco.
