Sister Catherine Nessi Celebrates 60 Years of Her Religious Profession
Sister Catherine has been ministering at St. Cecilia School for 16 years and has been a Catholic teacher for 58 years. This year we honor her as she celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of her religious profession as a Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Please join Sister Catherine at the 9:30 A.M. Mass, on this Sunday, May 16. Following the Mass, there will be a reception in her honor. We are grateful for the countless ways she has touched our lives by her word and example!
Cap Day
To help Sister Catherine celebrate, the student will have CAP DAY on Monday, May 17. Students may wear any sports-related cap WITH their school uniform!
Music Recital Behavior
This week Jill’s and Tina’s students will have their recitals! We know that our student musicians have practiced very hard for these performances, and so we need to ensure that we have the audience’s silent, respectful attention. The following gentle reminders are listed because they have been issues in previous years:
Well-behaved siblings are welcome at the concerts. However, the recitals are in the evening and if younger siblings cannot sit through a recital quietly at this hour, please arrange for childcare.
If a younger child starts to run around or cry, please leave the auditorium with him or her.
Cell phones should be turned off, and video games are not allowed.
Student musicians should be seated quietly on the bench and should be respectful of each performer.
Student musicians should not be in other parts of the school or running in and out of the restrooms.
Sister Marilyn will be meeting with each group of student musicians before the recitals and making general announcements to the entire student body about polite behavior.
We look forward to wonderful evenings of music that reflect the talents of our students and teachers! Thank you for your cooperation!

Summer 2010 Music Lessons Information
The summer is great time to study an instrument! Many of the St. Cecilia School music teachers keep their private studios open in the summer. Summer music lessons are not sponsored by St. Cecilia School, and lessons are not given on the school/parish property. Summer is a great time for new students to discover if they like studying music before making a semester-long commitment and for continuing students to learn new pieces. There are no recitals during summer music!
The instruments available are: piano, recorder, flute, clarinet, sax, violin, viola, 'cello and guitar. Please note – if you choose the piano, you need to rent or own a traditional, acoustic piano in your home (not an electronic keyboard).
If you have any questions about summer music lessons, please call Bonnie Knight at home: 415-665-1583.

Track Season
Wow, what a Track Season! We had another tremendous turnout with the program growing in size yet again. We are very proud of each of our runners! They
practiced and competed very hard each week. Towards the end of the season, they also faced some pretty “hot” weather, but that didn’t stop them from doing GREAT!!!! Thanks also to the parent volunteers enough for helping us run every track meet whether it was the High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, or timing the runners. Your support is very much appreciated.
Since the season is now over, we need your uniform tops back! All track team members (even those who are in the May 22 meet) please return YOUR CLEANED TOP in a small plastic bag to the school office addressed to the attention of Norma/Sue Courey. Be sure to put your name on it, so we can cross you off the list. Any questions contact Jeff Waite, Sue Courey, or Mark Courey.
CYO Track Meet
The annual CYO track meet will is Saturday, May 22, at Archbishop Riordan High School from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Click here for more details. For this meet, Jeff Waite will have track tops for the participants. Jeff has volunteered to coach the SC team that day, and he is looking for a few volunteers to help assist him. You may contact him at JWAI@cheveron.com

Parish Athletic Board: Your Team
The St Cecilia Parish athletic season is coming to an end - which means changes on the Athletic Board. Membership on the Board is a 3-year commitment with the total number of members being 11, two of whom are the Athletic Directors, Pete Franceschi and Mary Ann Paul.
At the end of this school year, 3 Board members will be rotating off, and 3 new Board members will be coming on. In addition to the yearly membership change, there are also elections held for President, Treasurer, and Secretary which are annual commitments.
Congratulations and thanks to the Board members who are rotating off: Katie Kohmann, Joe McFadden, and Jeff Waite. Thanks for the fantastic job!
Don’t hesitate talking to any Board member as he/she is here to serve the parish athletic program. The last Athletic Board meeting of the year will be on June 2, at 7:00.
