St. Cecilia School eNewsletter

May 2 – May 8, 2011

Dear St. Cecilia School Faculty, Parents, and Students,

On Saturday, May 19th, 2012, Jerry Murphy, Felix Lim, and I are being ordained to the priesthood to serve in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. All of you are welcome to attend. Please consider your baptism your invitation card and that of those who come with you on May 19th.

I lived and served as a seminarian at St. Cecilia from September 2009 through June 2010. The interaction with many of you and your prayers became an important part of my formation into Holy Orders. In thanksgiving, I would like to share this gift with you. Particularly, I would be very happy to see the eighth graders who I taught in sixth grade two years ago.

The Mass of Ordination will be at St. Mary's Cathedral, 1111 Gough St., San Francisco, CA, at 10:00 A.M. It would be better to arrive at 9:30 A.M. at the latest. Then, on Sunday, May 20th, I will join you at St. Cecilia Parish to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 11:30 A.M.

May God bless you!

Armando Gutierrez

School Supply Sales

Spring is here, and it is time to think about school supplies. The Mothers' Club is once again offering pre-packaged school supplies for all grades. All packs purchased now will be available on Registration Day in each student's classroom. Why spend your last weeks of summer running around looking for school supplies? Click here for instructions on how to order online supplies, and you will have one less thing to think about. The deadline for all orders is May 31. Please contact Nancy Murphy at nancygmurphy@sbcglobal.net if you have any questions. Thanks for your support!

Summer Music Lessons

The St. Cecilia School Music Department is closed during the summer. However, most of the music faculty teach in their home studios or other facilities throughout the summer. The instruments available are: piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, recorder, flute, clarinet, and saxophone. The summer is a great time to study music without the commitment of the Fall Semester contract. If your child wants to study the piano, you must have a traditional, acoustic (not electric) piano in your home. For further information regarding summer music lessons contact Bonnie Knight, Director, Music Department, at musicroom8@aol.com or her home phone 415-665-1583.
