Dear St. Cecilia School Faculty, Parents, and Students,
On Saturday, May 19th, 2012, Jerry Murphy, Felix Lim, and I are being ordained to the priesthood to serve in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. All of you are welcome to attend. Please consider your baptism your invitation card and that of those who come with you on May 19th.
I lived and served as a seminarian at St. Cecilia from September 2009 through June 2010. The interaction with many of you and your prayers became an important part of my formation into Holy Orders. In thanksgiving, I would like to share this gift with you. Particularly, I would be very happy to see the eighth graders who I taught in sixth grade two years ago.
The Mass of Ordination will be at St. Mary's Cathedral, 1111 Gough St., San Francisco, CA, at 10:00 A.M. It would be better to arrive at 9:30 A.M. at the latest. Then, on Sunday, May 20th, I will join you at St. Cecilia Parish to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 11:30 A.M.
May God bless you!

Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Immunization Requirements For Students
For the 2012–13 school year, all students entering 7th grade will need proof of a Tdap booster shot before starting school. This requirement:
- can be met by receiving one dose of Tdap vaccine on or after the 10th birthday.
- applies to all public and private schools.
- does not affect students enrolled in summer school.
This means that all students entering Grs. 7 in the fall of 2012 MUST have proof of the Pertussis booster shot. Our school office must have proof of current immunizations on or before Friday, May 4, 2012!
School Supply Sales
Spring is here, and it is time to think about school supplies. The Mothers' Club is once again offering pre-packaged school supplies for all grades. All packs purchased now will be available on Registration Day in each student's classroom. Why spend your last weeks of summer running around looking for school supplies? Click here for instructions on how to order online supplies, and you will have one less thing to think about. The deadline for all orders is May 31. Please contact Nancy Murphy at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. Thanks for your support!
Summer Music Lessons
The St. Cecilia School Music Department is closed during the summer. However, most of the music faculty teach in their home studios or other facilities throughout the summer. The instruments available are: piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, recorder, flute, clarinet, and saxophone. The summer is a great time to study music without the commitment of the Fall Semester contract. If your child wants to study the piano, you must have a traditional, acoustic (not electric) piano in your home. For further information regarding summer music lessons contact Bonnie Knight, Director, Music Department, at email@example.com or her home phone 415-665-1583.
Invites to the brunch were sent home two weeks ago. Check your child's backpack! Come celebrate on Sunday, May 6 with Mass at 9:30 A.M. and brunch to follow in the auditorium. Click here for the invitation with all the information. Send in your RSVP's now. Contact Katie Kohmann 415-509-4611 or Denise Kohmann 650-278-0908 if you have any questions.

St. Cecilia's 18th Annual Walk & Jog-a-thon Friday, May 18
Free Dress For Students!
Mark your calendar today! We need your support to make this a fun and successful fundraiser for St. Cecilia's athletic programs. Funds raised from this event are used to buy new equipment for the girls' and boys' sports programs including volleyballs, basketballs, uniforms, and other items that need to be replaced due to wear and tear.
Here's how it works!
Click here to download your sponsor sheet today. Sign up as many sponsors as you can based upon the number of laps you think you can run. Donations should be collected at the time of the pledge. Fill out your sponsor sheet and prize tickets and return them to the school office with the money you collected.
Each $10 you collect gets you a prize ticket for the daily raffle. Be sure to fill out, cut out, and submit one prize ticket for each $10 you turn in. Winning prize tickets will be pulled each morning from Monday, May 14 through Friday, May 18. To be eligible for the prizes, your tickets must be turned in by the previous day. The more money you collect, the more prize tickets you have and the more chances you have to win!
Listen to the morning announcements for your raffle ticket to be pulled. There will be 3 winners per day and the prizes vary. Prizes include t-shirts, hats, balls, and much more.
The student who brings in the most money wins $100. The student who brings in the 2nd highest amount of money wins $75. The student who brings in the 3rd highest amount of money wins $50.
Ice-cream parties to the top 3 classes that bring in the most money! Free dress passes to every class that has 100% participation (Every student in the classroom has collected money from at least 1 sponsor)!
Parents can help on the day of the Jog-a-thon by volunteering to count laps, tie shoelaces, and hand out treats. Click here for the volunteer form and return it to the office as soon as possible to get the time and grade you want.
