School Financial Report
The Finance Committee of St. Cecilia School generally meets once a month to review the financial condition of the school, review the budget recommendations of the principal, recommend policies concerning school finances and, if necessary, support the principal in collection of tuition. As representatives of the school parents and the parish family, we want to ensure that St. Cecilia School provides the best Catholic education our tuition dollars and the parish family can support. As your representatives, we feel it is important to share information regarding the financial condition of the school.
The financial condition of St. Cecilia School, as presented in the financial statements for the seven months ending January 31, 2010, is in good order. Click here for the charts that compare the budget to actual revenues and expenditures for the 2009-2010 school year.
The successful fundraisers from last year (Mothers’ Club, Parish Festival, Scrip Program, individual donations, and matching donations from parents and their work places), allowed us to make the following changes and upgrades to the school:
* new reading program for Grades K-5
* new literature for Grades 6-8
* 35 laptops and a cart to store them
* new linoleum in the entryway to the auditorium and in the women’s restroom by auditorium
* energy efficient lights throughout the school
* sealing and lining the schoolyard
* painting benches and some classrooms
We are grateful to all parents and parishioners who continually support the school’s fundraising activities!
We hope this information helps you to understand the financial resources of our school and its dependence upon your continued support. If you have any concerns regarding the school’s financial condition, please contact one of the following School Finance Committee members: Steve Johnson, Sally Maske, Ray Williamson, Kathy Atkinson, Barbara Cutten, Joe Grazioli, Sr. Marilyn Miller, or Msgr. Michael Harriman.

Collection for Lesotho, Africa
During Lent the students will collect money for the pre-schools and primary schools in Lesotho, Africa. These schools are staffed by the Sisters of the Holy Names, the same community of Sisters at St. Cecilia School. In each school numerous students have been affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis. Many of the children are either “single or double” orphans, having lost one or both parents to AIDS. Often times the children are living with grandparents who are unemployed and unable to provide new clothes, proper food, or tuition. One principal reports, “It seems the school is the only place of their comfort.” The teachers, Sisters, and other students who are able are trying to provide uniforms, tracksuits, shoes, and other clothes for those children who come to school in tatters. The school also tries to provide these students with vegetables and maize meal for nutrition and takes care of their health needs at the clinic the Sisters have close by. The care of ONE child at one of these schools for ONE year is $100.00 which covers tuition, books, uniforms, school fees, and food.

OTHER ITEMS
Attention SC Track Team Parents: We need bodies!
The SC track program is in desperate need of parent volunteers to help us run our Track Meets. Without a solid and reliable volunteer base our track program will be in serious jeopardy of being kicked out of the league. It is a mandatory requirement that each school at each track meet either (1) Run the entire track meet or (2) Run a field event and also do timing of the racers. There is no oversight body in this league or paid officials like we have in basketball, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. Parent volunteers RUN IT ALL.
Our Track Meets are on March 21, March 28, April 11, April 18, and April 25. We need parent volunteers for ALL OF THESE MEETS. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN TRACK OR ANY SPORTING EVENT IS NECESSARY.
One last VERY IMPORTANT POINT, the 5th Grade Track Meets events run OPPOSITE the 6th - 8th Grades, so we will need a separate volunteer list for the 5th Grade ONLY. So 5th Grade parents, you'll need to step up!
Here's the number of volunteers we need at each Meet: 5th Grade alone: 5-6 volunteers 6th - 8th Grade: 5-6 volunteers.
Training for our volunteers will be at our Track Practice on March 12, at 5:00. So please come out. It's painless and easy! If you miss the training, don't worry. We'll give you a crash course at the Track Meet. Please e-mail Mark Courey with your volunteer information at mcourey@ohns.ucsf.edu.
Attention All Soccer Girls:
Once your season is over, please return your CLEANED soccer jersey in closed bag with your name on it and leave it on the bench by the office. Thank You.
