Dear Families,
Welcome to the second semester of the school year! There are many school and parish activities coming up in the next few months. Please make sure to read the eNewsletter and check the calendar on the school website to keep informed of upcoming events.

Please plan on attending our Catholic Schools Week Mass on Saturday, February 1 at 5:00 P.M. The Children’s Choir will be singing. This is also our Alumni Mass.

Report cards will be distributed on Friday, January 17. They should be signed and returned to the teachers by Friday, January 24.

Keyboarding Class

Mr. Watters will be offering his keyboarding class once again this spring. An application form was placed on the desks of students in Grades 4-6 on Monday, January 6. If you did not get a registration form please click here. This class will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:25-7:55. They will begin on Tuesday, January 28 and end on Thursday, April 17.

LitPix the student created literary and art magazine is NOW available. Enjoy art work, poetry, short stories and photographs from the creative minds of St. Cecilia School students.

Save the Date for Multicultural Day: February 21

Celebrate diversity at St. Cecilia's Multicultural Day to be held on Friday, February 21. There are a number of things you can do now to get ready for this great event! Start pouring through your recipes and determine which cultural dishes you will prepare for our students to enjoy!

Encourage your children to perform in our International Talent Show and start planning! Clear your calendar, so you can volunteer and enjoy our fun activities!

Video Streamer Training

There will be another streamer training on January 29 from 2:30 - 4:00 P.M. If you are interested in streaming, please read and fill out the attached form Click Here.

Archdiocesan Family Grants

The Archdiocese has chosen TADS to process applications for the Archdiocesan Family Grant tuition assistance program. To apply for an Archdiocesan Family Grant, parents should go to the TADS website www.tads.com. Once on their homepage click the link "Apply for Financial Aid" on the right side of the page under the "Parents & Families" heading. Once you have completed filling out the online form, submit it and your application will be processed. The deadline for completing the application for elementary school assistance is April 15, 2014.

DRESS CODE FOR THE JANUARY CONCERTS

Boys: Dress slacks, shirt with a collar, dress shoes
Girls: A dress, a skirt with a blouse, or a skirt with a sweater and dress shoes. Please, NO high heels.

DEADLINE FOR CONTINUING MUSIC TUITION – JANUARY 24

Music bills for the Spring Semester went home with the students on January 10. The deadline for payment is January 24. If there is any problem with payment by that date, please contact Bonnie Knight at (415) 290-1575 or musicroom8@aol.com. If neither payment nor communication is received by the deadline, music lessons will stop until payment is received. There are no makeup lessons for lessons missed due to no response to the tuition envelope.

SPRING ENROLLMENT FOR NEW MUSIC STUDENTS: DEADLINE JANUARY 24

The St. Cecilia School Music Department offers private music lessons during school hours. The instruments are piano, violin, guitar, viola, cello, string bass, recorder, flute, clarinet and saxophone. Piano students must have a traditional, acoustic, non-electric piano in their home. For the Spring Semester, most of the openings are for Grades 7 and 8, although there are a small number of openings for grades K-6.

Please note that new students pay tuition plus an annual $45 registration fee. Please sign the two forms and return them along with your tuition envelope. Keep a copy of the forms for your own reference. Proposed lesson times must be approved by the classroom teacher. Your check will not be cashed until you have an approved lesson time. If your child cannot be accommodated this semester, your check will be returned to you and you will be placed on the waiting list for the Fall 2014 semester.

Hot Lunch Volunteers NEEDED

We now have 2 different volunteer shifts available for those who would like to assist with Hot Lunch! The Setup shift is from 10:15 A.M. -12:15 P.M. and the Distribution shift is from 11:45 A.M. -1:00 P.M. each Tuesday & Thursday. Please sign-up for shifts on Sign-up Genius (click here). Mothers Club Meeting

So, You Think You Can Dance?
Calling all Moms to our SC Dance Party! You won't want to miss this Mothers Club Meeting TONIGHT in the Lower Church at 7:00 P.M.!
Come find out more about our exciting Spring Fundraiser, "Dancing with the Stars of Saint Cecilia", which will be held on Saturday, March 29th.

In order to help with our fundraiser, we are asking all moms to donate a nice bottle of wine which costs at least $15. Check below for the type of wine that goes with your last name.

Uniform Exchange

There will be a uniform exchange at the Mothers Club Meeting TONIGHT.
Drop off freshly cleaned and mended uniforms to the office before the end of the day!


BOX TOPS CONTEST NOW THROUGH FEBRUARY 13

Keep saving and turning in those Box Tops! It really does pay off. St. Cecilia School just received a check in the amount of $1,123.30 from our last two collections! Please submit your Box Tops to your child's teacher. The class submitting the most Box Tops by Thursday, February 13 will win a free dress pass and a sweet treat party! Birthday Book Club

Purchasing books through the Birthday Book Club (BBC) is available to honor your child’s birthday, a family member or loved one, or for any special occasion. All hardcover books are $18 and are donated to our school library. You will receive a special certificate to award the honoree and a special inscription will be placed on a bookplate in the book. Students will also have their picture taken with their donated books and posted in the hallway next to the computer lab.

CYO has scheduled basketball games in the Pavilion at 1 P.M. on Sunday, so we must have the Pavilion ready. Please help us meet this Sunday deadline!
